Knives Out 2019
Rian Johnson has truly created a return to form for the murder mystery genre. One with genuine twists and turns the first time you watch it. However, this isn't just a good mystery, it's also a good story with very good characters. This movie wouldn't be nearly as good without this cast. They all brought their A game for this one and you can tell they had a blast on set. I saw this movie 3 times while it was in the theatre because I wanted to watch the movie again, despite knowing the answer to the mystery. That should say enough.

What to say about this one. This film's use of suspense is truly bone chilling, making it's ability to somehow juggle this alongside genuinely hilarious moments all the more impressive. The overall message about how we value wealth and fame over our own or others lives was communicated very well without overstaying it's welcome. Jordan Peele definitely knew when to let that theme breathe, but there were times where it was a bit over the top (e.g. the TMZ Reporter). Overall, solid horror flick that doesn't only rely on jump scares to horrify you, which I am all here for.

Love it or hate it, you have to admit that they really let Sam Raimi go crazy here. The camera actually fucking moves in interesting ways and honestly, I don't think I would let other Marvel movies get away with completely uninteresting camera work after this. The cinematography, darker content, and kick ass soundtrack from Danny Elfman make this movie high tier for me.
