This movie is fine. After reading the book, it’s somewhat underwhelming. It takes the traditional route of “book to movie” by removing what they assume to be ‘unimportant’. Unfortunately, what makes the book impactful is the culmination of those simpler tropes. The impact of his English teacher, the importance of music, ‘Charlie’s’ sometimes overthinking writing style. The lack of these lead to a story which is more like a summary and less of the full message. Nevertheless, it was fine.
