A good and an engaging story with great characters and cast but oh my god why, why did it have to be such a bad musical... All the songs & music are just... BAD. So bad they make this good story a c r i n g e f e s t and undermine actresses' performances.

I think that this was the ultimate showcase of just how condescending or even contemptuous is Phillips to his own characters, to unlucky people like Arthur, to all of us who is beneath him. And yes of course the EvIL wOmEn who don't care about men, only want to use them etc etc etc
It's not the bad songs, boring dancing, horridly long empty scenes full of nothing, no all of that is fine, it's _Phillip's disdain_ that is filling the air in every fucking frame — that's what makes this film so unattractive and so hard to watch.

Ink Wash 2024
I loved how quiet, slow and simple the story of living through a heartbreak was shown.
You can tell that the script was rewritten and processed many times, so some of the plotlines are kind of lost behind the emphasis on the imagery and contemplation, that is why perhaps it seems confusing or plotless. Nonetheless this is a great feature film debut.
