    Fontaine makes the vatican looks too stunning and intense. It’s not just pretty to look at--it pulls you right into the story’s big questions about power, morality, and belief.

    “Bande a part” may not be among the most awesome masterpieces of cinema, but it is memorable, funny, and a delightful example on how Godard is having fun in making poetic, jazzy, noir-ish, charming cinema with his one and only muse, Anna Karina. Godard is letting his imagination run wild, filling our minds with life’s little pleasantries, and random absurdities. It is very much worth seeing for fans of mid-century French films.
