I honestly really loved the first half of this film. It didn’t feel its length though and was well paced for what it was. Shame Timothee and Zendaya passed away since the last one and they got replaced with Tom Holland and Ariana Grande. They did the best they could in the roles but somehow Villeneuve‘s strong direction and script made you forget about the major unfortunate cast changes and get swept back into this world.

Not your typical coming of age film for young teenagers, this film is actually more adult than you would expect, and quite cheeky in places. It is nonetheless really well acted and scripted, and features some heartbreaking scenes. Imagine "The Breakfast Club" but set in 1990 in a South African all Boys school. That's what this is.
