A Complete Unknown 2024
Shockingly great, just loved the music and fantastic performances by all. America’s favorite scumbag, Timothee Chalamet, gives his best performance yet, pulling off not only piano, guitar, and singing, but really feeling like Bob Dylan, very impressive. Highlights are the duets, especially with Joan Baez (Monica Barbara)

Funny Ha Ha 2002
How do you make a film that feels this real? Everything about it doesn’t quite work, which is exactly the point. Every character is flawed, but in very mundane ways. The dialogue is stilted, and there are no profound messages to be found in its theme. It’s just a movie about life, and it’s perfect for that

Bottle Rocket 1996
Does not feel like a Wes Anderson movie at all except for the Wilson brothers, but it’s so funny! It feels more like a Coen brothers movie, which is a compliment. There were some issues with pacing, and in general it just has a really loose feel, very different from the intricate and almost stop-motion precision of his recent films, but it’s just fun. Owen and Luke Wilson have a chemistry that is hard to match, and all of the supporting characters are great as well. I laughed a lot.
