John Adams: Nixon in China 2012
jiang qing was still alive when this first hit the stage and i’m positive this is what killed her. the more you watch the more it devolves into surrealistic politically incoherent fanfiction, but it may manage to pull you into its fantasy where you’ll forget these were real people instead of extravagant caricatures of themselves, and that’s both frightening and (regrettably) kind of delicious. i’m attempting to tap into the soul of john adams so I can possibly begin to imagine what mindset he was in when he created this. sumi jo is stellar though.
