Why did they do any of this? This feels like a 50 minute movie they ran out of material for, so they contracted some other studios to make 25 minutes of cgi shorts to pad it out. This leads to a start-and-stop effect that leaves me exhausted. Doesn't help that the 50 minute movie itself is just boring.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2023
I think, despite everything, this topples the 2 sonic movies. It's nothing particularly special, but it doesn't do much actively WRONG either. The jokes are fine, the pacing is fast but tolerable, its just a fun little time. The big complaint is the weird placement of boomer licensed music, especially notable because they left out several tracks from the soundtrack for the sake of them.

I jumped into this movie completely blind, not expecting the.. CG Romance Time Travel movie I got. While it's obviously baked in old and tired anime tropes, its premise at least stays relatively compelling allthroughout, even if the twist is slightly obvious.
My main criticism is that the morality of their relationship at the end becomes rather.. debatable. I'll leave it at that, it's a bit vague and it may just be me looking too deep into it
