Surprisingly funny. Harris Dickinson’s American accent was so impressive. Good pace and sound design + score.

The fleeting mention of Nicole’s character growing up in a cult/commune was great in that it didn’t overshadow everything else but also felt like a bit of a scapegoat.

Loved that it centred on sex and seduction but didn’t need to overindulge in visuals and nudity to deliver.

Incredibly sunny and bright, if maybe overexposed, delivers such impact in contrast to the night scenes and fade-outs. Really impressed by how they used absence/sparing degrees of visuals. Christian Friedel plays the cold villain so well, even in/when surrounded by lush and idyllic homestead scenes.

The gardening scene and Claus hissing were perhaps the worst.

Nicole Kidman is perfect, Mimi is perfect, Toulouse is perfect, even the evil Maharaja is perfect. The elephant suite scenes are so ridiculously fun, the tango and (terrifying) chase scenes are so intense and suspenseful, and the choreography of it all is so fluid and full. Moments that have bothered me every time I’ve watched and loved in the past: Satine’s yips before the dance scene, Christian’s first sob(s) at the end, the fact that the Duke’s bodyguard looks like…
