  actually love this film. Lang is a genius and the way he portrayed mental illness and psychopathy is so ahead of its time it's almost as unbelievably progressive as Metropolis. every murderer case film can be compared to this

  whilst i appreciated the social commentary as well as mcdowell's character i struggled to appreciate many other roles in the film as well as the seemingly unnecessary colour changes - it's surrealist suggestions whilst valid are in places seemingly irrelevant to anderson's film
