Incredible Dark Comedy. Probably wouldn't be anywhere as funny without Willem Dafoe's earnest performance as an authority figure in both the first and final triptych, but the use of wardrobe, physical space, and deadpan sincerity when tasked with saying preposterous lines made this film my favorite released in 2024.
The movie is imitating real life... Jesse Eisenberg deserves more credit for this. Kieran Culkin steals the show, but Eisenberg sets this up perfectly for him to shine!

I appreciated that there were some parallels with the last 3.5 hr movie I've seen in theatres: Killers of the Flower Moon. Both are beautiful looking movies with incredible characters, but could be considered inaccessible due to their lengthy runtimes and bleak subject matter. Both films counteract this inaccessiblity by neatly summing up the major themes in a flash-forward sequence. I loved the dark comedy aspects of the epilogue. Zoe Kravitz has got something to say. It's fascinating seeing a directorial debut of someone who's been famous her entire life, especially when the film paints her rich and famous peers in such a negative light. It makes you wonder how much is based off of actual events that she may have witnessed or been privy to while growing up with famous parents. The film echoes Kravitz's anti-Cancel Culture beliefs as it explores just how horrible people can become when they are considered irredeemable.
