What a 70's horror movie would look like with 2020's technology. It feels simultaneously classic and very fresh and new. Just as old and modern as the issues of female empowerment over their own bodies and religious conservative paranoia of people leaving tradition.
It is full of references to movies from somewhat the same time period the movie is set on (like Rosemary's Baby, The Exorcist, Suspiria and Possession), but they feel like a homage, taking great elements from them…
A greek tragedy in a viking setting with Bjork as a witch, naked Alexander Skarsgard and beautiful Iceland scenery (at some points, it feels like Iceland sponsored this movie)... How could this not be good?
