Sometimes a simple premise lays the groundwork for an unexpected outcome. A girl on a farm at the turn of the century dealing with loneliness and disconnection. A pandemic and a war abroad add to the disconnection. No, it’s not a contemporary piece; it’s a period piece set in 1918.
The style chosen is clean and rich with color to almost accentuate the idyllic pre-conceived time period. But what lies beneath is far more disturbing.
