There was an elderly couple in my screening who were proper laughing every time an over the top death happened and it was cracking me up, and it reminds me how much I bloody love horror, especially when it's gory AND silly. More films need freeze frame impalement kills.
So many of Ridley Scott's recent films have been so unhinged, and I kind of love it. You want historical accuracy? Get the fuck out of here. You want a pompous spectacle with some wild dialogue choices and not even a whiff of a French accent? Then you're in the right place. At one point, Napoleon is straight up called a cuck, and then shortly after there's a brief scene inspired by the "succulent Chinese meal" guy.
His film production company is called Scott Free because he knows he'll get away with it to, the absolute maniac.
