I wanted to like this soooo baaaad. The premise is great, thought Pattinson killed, and even the weaker films of Bong Joon Ho outweigh many other filmmakers’ major successes. But for me it really did amount to a super promising off beat blockbuster that just isn’t focused enough.

The original sin of this flick is that all of the most dynamic and exciting sequences are in the freakin trailer!! Is this the fault of the film? No, but this kind…

This short is truly beyond critique. I mean, how critical can you be about an 8min film where a chicken-human hybrid is accidentally created from the spilled seed of a lonely farmer who quietly yearns for a more fulfilling life, only to have that wish granted via the opportunity to parent his new half chicken son?

It’s clear everyone involved had fun making this, and the audience in my screening had a blast watching it. Love it or hate it, one thing is certain… in world of movies recycling hackneyed ideas, Chickenboy stands out among the brood.

The low grade digital look gives it a texture akin to film and supports the vérité style, as there…

Like if Dogtooth was directed by a young Tim Burton!

This was one of the more inventive features I saw at Slamdance, marrying dream like delusions with sobering real life dilemmas. The production value of this incredibly small movie (a team of about 5 key crew members) is a sight to behold. Colin Burgess’ performance, with his own brand of aloof comedy, is wildly entertaining and compliments Paul Rothery’s scene stealing version of the “straight man”.

    As weird…
