The weirdest advert for Marlboro cigarettes. I did expect that at one point one of the characters to look directly at the camera and say “this film is brought to you by Marlboro cigarettes- sold at all good retailers”. Damn some of that camera work truly changed my brain chemistry. Honestly Sailor and Lulu were the og find someone to match my freak couple- why were they kind of relationship goals?!? The whole film was the perfect amount of weirdness (except for Billy Peru- he was WAYYY too freakish) and I can’t wait to watch more Lynch films

I wish I had memory loss so I could watch this film for the first time again. I also wish I had the Stratford sisters full wardrobe and Kats absolutely MASSIVE Bell jar text book. Just everything about this film is soooooo sooo sooo good. The fact it still makes me smile, giggle and kick my feet on a at least 10th watch is CRAZYYYY. I love it soo much. At least once a week I quote Kats final monologue (tears included). AND HE LEARNT FRENCH FOR HER?!?!?!?!?

This is how the pitch at Dreamworks went:

“so our idea is a film exploring mortality, loneliness, greed, corruption/ capitalism, community, insecurity and legacy”

Some business exec “ oh so our first adult film? Should be interesting for…”

    “Nope a kids film”

    “Huh but I’m not sure…”

“Don’t worry we will make the animation so detailed and artistic they will never know” then they started manically writing the most heartbreaking yet optimistic script that has ever been written since The Dead Poets Society “how do we feel about Goldilocks and the 3 bears being a cockney crime family??”

If I could frolic in a frilly dress by the ocean I would probably look that happy too
