Promising Young Woman 2020
The more I think about this movie, the angrier it makes me. The script is hollow and self indulgent, its entire take on revenge is more focused on #girlboss feminism and corny one liners than any real, rooted, focused analysis of sexual violence and the aftermath it leaves. This movie feigns grief, trauma, and loss, only to throw back token caricatures, plot holes, gratuitous violence, and lack of real regard for the victims of sexual trauma. I felt like I was watching Joss Whedon x #MeToo and I hated it.
