Al Pacino's performance in this is so fascinating to watch. There are so many layers to his character, most of which are shown in the most minute expressions and movements. This is a performance that could be watched from many different angles depending on your own perspective or lived experience, and I think that’s a big part of the allure for me. went into this thinking i’d relate more to andrew scott’s character, especially rewatching after my mom died but not really, there’s something about paul mescal’s character that felt very familiar to me. Beautiful movie I’m glad i watched it for the first time when i did, about two weeks before she died, and im glad i rewatched it now almost a year after.
