Much like the bbq sauce from Kansas City, this is a masterpiece.

Hello, this is Sy Greenblum, president of Spatula City. I liked the spatulas so much, I bought the company.

This movie has stuck with me since I was a kid because there are so many, dare I say, WEIRD moments in it...and Weird Al is not the weirdest person in this film, by a long shot. Does what many other movies have done before and after, but remains singular, and cracks me up.

Derivative, cartoonish, buffoonish, but I enjoy it. Feels like 3 separate movies written by 30 different writers (William Goldman has the credit!). Clips whole sequences from Speilberg and Mel Brooks, and even features a scene where Mel Gibson does a half-hearted Rodney Dangerfield impression. The supporting cast is what elevates this beyond its unoriginality. Jodie Foster, Graham Green, James Garner, James Coburn, Alfred Molina, and about 20 incredible character actors who show up at the end in a collective cameo where they basically just watch Mel Gibson play poker. Also, there are 4 endings.

A one room court drama, pretty straightforward with some nice performances. Especially interesting if you've seen The Caine Mutiny. Keifer even adds a little Bogart lisp in his Queeg characterization. Last film of William Friedkin and Lance Reddick, both of whom I am a fan. Everything leads to the final speech, of course, and Friedkin really nails the last moment. Absolutely delighted when the end credit song kicked in to cap off the provocative ending.
