Wish the version I watched had a better soundtrack but regardless very good. My second Vidor. I didn't feel as emotionally invested as Stella Dallas but can wholly appreciate what it was, and at its best it really did hit the right emotional beats.
And despite not having an immediate emotional connection the film's narrative resonates enough with me to leave me devastated during the end credits. Very impressive stuff on a technical side, a lot I loved about it...
About to meet up with Emily so will yap to her about it.

“I don’t know but I can understand!”
Wrote an insanely long and very personal review for this but think for now I’d rather just say: pretty good movie, could praise it for many things. Loved seeing another Deborah Kerr movie, she was again excellent. Would definitely recommend 🙏🏽
I regret I could only see it in 480p- only version I could find, even tried to rent it 🤒
