An amazing film. I don't really like war films, but this isn't really a usual war film. It perfectly lays out the horrors of the first world war and illustrates why most veterans didn't want to talk about what they'd experienced when they returned home.
Amazing scenery and fantastic cinematography. Lovely long shots as if you are with them all the way. It's almost real time. Truly epic.
Thoroughly recommend this if only to begin to understand what your grandfather may have experienced but never spoke of. Triple Oscar winner and no surprise. Just surprised it's not more well known and talked about.
