4 stars for a well-done manipulative romance tear-jerker but minus half a star for Andrew Garfield's acting, and minus a full star for Florence Pugh's character's ridiculous decision to risk her life for the chance of winning a cooking competition to impress her daughter, instead of trying to actually live, or maybe even spending that time actually with her daughter. But plus half a star for the credits listing the doctor as Kerri Weaver, which I firmly choose to believe is a reference to the character Kerry Weaver on ER.

Arrival 2016
This is still one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen. It was my third time watching it, and I should watch it more often.
I'd like to try skipping all the parts involving the military and government some time just to eliminate the "dumb cop" tropes. They're necessary to build a sense of action and urgency, but they detract from such an otherwise fascinating script with great acting.
