Might not be a high rating for those comparing this film to the book by Diana Wynne Jones that it was based upon, but I really enjoyed the movie! My first time watching it, I was a bit confused about the plot and where it was going, but I enjoyed the interactions and chemistry between Howl and Sophie. For me, this is one of those movies that makes more and more sense to me each time I watch it. I absolutely love the aesthetic too!

I've seen this rated as the best film Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki have produced, and I would definitely agree with this statement. Really underrated!!! Sure, it's intended for a younger audience, but there is so much meaning behind all of the colorful wonder flowing through the watery scenery of the film. Some might argue that the significance and how Sosuke's father is away is an apology from Hayao Miyazaki to his son Goro for being absent much of his life while working with film.
