Rewatch opened my eyes to it being pretty empty despite despite my rose tinted memory of this movie. Walk the Line belongs to a the special niche of Oscar bait biopics that use pretty shots and evocative performances from prestigious actors to tricks us into watching pre-biased with the signifiers of artistic seriousness.
For a film about a controversial, complex figure, the film seems to purposely stray from covering any topics that may have made a mainstream American 2000s audience too…
