  This movie was everything I wanted as a longtime Sonic Adventure 2 fan. Shadow had depth and his relationship with Maria was shown long enough to fully understand his pain. All of the action was fast and frantic, perfect for a Sonic movie. There were a lot of new ideas for the fight scenes and the plot moved forward consistently.   This film made one thing very apparent: the goal of The Hobbit trilogy was to attempt to connect the very simple tale of The Hobbit published in 1937 to the grand narrative of Lord of the Rings, the greatest film trilogy ever made. Smaug and Azog are said to be connected to Sauron, and Gandalf's adventure is fleshed out beyond the novel's small boundaries, which involves Sauron's prophesied return.
