On the Silver Globe 1988
This is arguably the most esoteric space opera I can conceive. The film is composed of philosophically disjointed monologues and extensive handheld camera footage, resulting in a viewing experience devoid of conventional pleasure. However, one can easily discern Żuławski's projection of Poland's modern history onto the narrative - from the alternating invasions by Germany and the Soviet Union during World War II to the bitter dissatisfaction under socialist rule. These societal grievances are transformed into the bizarre realities of the silver planet and reflections on anti-war sentiments. Notably, after experiencing this film, revisiting "Possession" reveals abundant self-referential elements.

A Brighter Summer Day 1991
A journey back to 1960s Taiwan, immersing in the White Terror era where adult politics intertwines with youth politics. A tale of growth, betrayal, and mutual influence that paradoxically feels both monumental and insignificant.
