Babylon 2022
I read a lot of reviews after watching it and “self indulgent” is something that popped up a lot. I believe Chazelle made this film for his Hollywood friends and used the soundtrack b-roll for La La Land it would seem… perhaps a nod to even his films will live and die in this strange Hollywood black hole.

Hmmm…
At times, an absolute snooze fest. I’m a big fan of Mangold, Dylan, Chalamet, unfortunately that doesn’t mean instant success.
I watched Mangold’s Walk the Line a few years ago, with an excellent emotional performance from Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon the film had emotional stakes with the music scenes for rest-bite. It was a good combination and all in all an enjoyable film.
What A Complete Unknown lacks is any emotional grounding. The skips in time feel quick…
