Not Marvel's strongest film--it's rushed, clunky, and cheesy. Despite that, it provides satisfying connective tissue to the rest of the MCU without resorting to bad fan-servive. And it's the only movie of this phase (so far) that's really looking forward. Maybe not a great standalone movie, but far from a nail in an MCU coffin as some critics would have you think.

Certainly not the most profound robot/ai movie out there, but might be the most fun.

What a mess. So many threads that weave together to make a big boring knot of nothing. Maybe there's a 3-hour cut that actually provides a pay-off for all it's disjointed thoughts... but honestly, even the modest 2-hour run felt like a slog.

Still, Adam Driver going bonkers is always worth something.

As with each of the sequel trilogy movies, The Rise of Skywalker isn't perfect, but gives fans more than enough to be excited about. It's not as much of a 180 from TLJ as critics would have you think. And its callbacks and cameos are more than just fan service. It does however spend too much time following pointless plot threads while rushing though the most interesting parts of the story. Overall, it's a fitting end to this new trilogy and a marked improvement from the prequels.
