  A global epic that spans 6 countries. For these dirtbags, all roads lead to 2 trucks filled with volatile dynamite. Friedkin cooked with oil, gas and bombs. Very few filmmakers currently are taking risks like this.

  Dune 1984

  I could tell David Lynch really loved the weird, f*cked up parts of Dune like the coked-out space guild navigators and the Baron. However not only did studio meddling make this bad, but so did the acting choices. I think there’s a lot of cool ideas here. But not enough time to explore them in all its weirdness.

  A movie about choices. The choice to live next door to horror. The choice to compartmentalize it. The choice to earn a living by harboring death. And then the choice of doubling down, even while confronted by its ripple effects.

  That’s the story.

  Then there’s Jonathan Glazer’s choices. To make a horror film where the horror is out of sight but not out of mind. To see one thing but hear another. A depiction of evil that would rather confront you in the periphery.

  This shit was bold and meditative. A technical masterpiece.
