𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘐𝘳𝘰𝘯 𝘊𝘭𝘢𝘸 is going to fly under the radar for the Oscars and other award shows even though it shouldn't. The story and legacy of the Von Erich family is so tough to fully capture, and there's definitely some other aspects that were not included. If you watch the film and then read more about the family, though, it's easy to understand why certain things were left out from a movie standpoint. Regardless, from the top all the way…

It's hard to say right now if 𝘏𝘢𝘮 𝘰𝘯 𝘙𝘺𝘦 is the best coming-of-age film I've seen, but it's certainly in the conversation if nothing else.

The visual aesthetic blew me away almost immediately, blending evocative cinematography with a nostalgic color palette that feels dreamlike and, at the same time, rooted in reality. The musical score is carefully curated, with each note, each lyric, each melody enhancing the emotional nuances of the narrative and immersing the audience in the world…

It kinda overstays its welcome but 𝑌𝑜𝑢'𝑟𝑒 𝐶𝑜𝑟𝑑𝑖𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝐼𝑛𝑣𝑖𝑡𝑒𝑑 is watchable and I'm not ashamed to admit I laughed during it.

There's like a two-minute stretch early on where Jason Alexander is doing Jason Alexander things. That's where this peaked. By the time the plot starts making its final descent and all the stuff that's supposed to hit you emotionally takes place with the serious/mournful music accompanying it, you've slogged through so much dog shit that you have zero reason to care. The whole thing also culminates in an awful speech by Millie's character that legitimately pissed me off. There's another…

Percy sending the Buick head-on into a tree and then almost hitting people on the beach with his new car were both great callbacks to when Matthew Broderick (Percy's dad in the film) drifted into the wrong lane and collided head-on with another car—killing the driver and the passenger instantly—and was only fined $175 for it.

Anyway, 𝘕𝘰 𝘏𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘍𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 was a lot of fun. Ton of one-liners, exchanges, and other moments that had me cracking up, and there's actual growth out of the two main characters which you don't always see in a rom-com.

It’s been said before but I’ll never get over how Josh Peck was the one to push the button. Best casting decision for the entire film.
