  bong joon-ho declares that if we

  "...overcome the one-inch tall barrier of subtitles, [we] will be introduced to so many more amazing films.”

  indeed, that is true. but more than this realization, gitling (2023) offers something else. it demolishes this barrier and reconstructs its strings of characters and letters into an extension of the film's world—a bridge of some sort.

  a bridge that translates the misunderstood and says the unspoken.

  for it is when we have nothing left to say that our thoughts are the loudest and our feelings beg most to be heard.
