John Candy is just great! Even in this formulaic riff on National Lampoon’s Vacation, he’s still very funny and watchable, even with the lack of actual story wrap-up and instead a random boat race to close out the piece!

This is really affecting, like watching the entire life of someone no longer with us… except he is, and the parts with him in his current state are both beautiful and heartbreaking!
The Moreau section is fascinating! Val finally gets to work with one of his idols and it all goes belly up into pure nightmare!
It is incredible that Val Kilmer held a camera in his hand to truly capture his own life… his entire life!

Lars and the Real Girl 2007
Look I went into this one still liking Ryan Gosling (although having trust issues after ‘Only God Forgives’), and expecting it to be a bit of goofy fun with maybe an emotional whip at the end... I was very wrong!
This film is incredibly touching, and that expected whip ended up being full blown whiplash! Gosling is as sturdy a leading man as they come, even playing along side a literal mannequin. I was significantly moved.
