  Such succinct storytelling and filmmaking, now that this film has been restored since believed to be lost in the 80s I'm excited for it to receive the flowers it deserves. A glimpse into class structure in the Philippines in the 80s, as well as the country's deep devotion to Catholicism and how that seeps into familial and romantic ideals particularly toward Filipino women.   first watch was focused on the practical effects second watch was realizing how comedic this is?? The actors slapping the same dead arm around. Jeffrey combs gently greeting the reanimated Halsey when entering the morgue. Chaplin esque scene in the basement with the light swinging and throwing a cat puppet around. There’s a lot of care put into this for a schlocky 80s horror!
