I was gonna write something positive about it too but can’t really think of anything. It’s kind of just a bad weirdly edgy movie with a mildly interesting premise. If you like early 2000s music video editing then I guess it has that going for it.
Talked about things that I’ve thought but rarely seen in media, and touched me in a way that no piece of media has before. One of those movies I obsessed over for the week after I watched because I just could not stop thinking about it. But maybe that’s just because I couldn’t stop listening to the music.
An excellent study of contrast and juxtaposition. Speaks volumes on the cycle of violence and loss of innocence due to it. Beautiful landscapes are sheared by bombs and tracers, barbaric soldiers pose for awe-inspiring shots, nazi’s laugh and parade and party carnival-like to screams of torment and sounds of hellfire, and young men and women lose their sacred innocence in the most horrific ways. It is not afraid to make its point known and it does so with an elegance that leaves the viewer in awe of it’s horrific beauty and brutal artistry.
