In 2009 I was in my early 20s living in Tokyo. I remember visiting Lion Meikyoku Kissa. Finding it in the somewhat dodgy backstreets of Dogenzaka... I don't remember how I initially came across it. I cried so much. I felt the depth of feeling in his face and in his manner. I was reminded of how the world can be savoured. The intimacy possible with the sentient and material world alike. It felt spiritual. The honouring of the sacred in all, but especially in the small, the slow and often disregarded, discarded.
Made me miss being in Japan a lot. The carefulness and richness of detail in daily life.
Also gave me the urge to clean my house...
