The picture book read aloud at the end of the movie was one of my favorites as a little kid. I’d never once thought of it as an allegory for the soul, especially not one that could serve to comfort someone experiencing anxiety about their salvation. This was an especially hard watch because my grandma passed away from a similar cancer and did not begin exploring Christianity until the very end of her life.
