I really disliked the first 20 mins or so of this film. It dragged, and all of the songs seemed ridiculous, aimless, and seemingly came out of nowhere and served no purpose. Also, they should have given more native Spanish speaking actors roles because the slipping in and out of the accent really took me out of it for Zoë and Selena’s characters.

Utterly unique, highly affecting and completely immersive. A stunningly beautiful film about one of the ugliest times of our history. With it’s rich and vibrant colouring and flashes of abstract imagery, it alternates between a dreamlike and nightmarish quality that grips you from the very first shot. It masterfully subverts your expectations with devastating effect, using the POV camera angle not only as a creative shot maker but also as a clever way to flip the narrative. If you haven’t seen this film yet, go watch it. Required viewing in my opinion.
