The story of this film was elegant. Each subplot neatly meshed together into what would eventually become the tight template for a Bollywood pocket-drama. This was my first foray into Ray’s world and it might have broken cinema for me. Every frame was a painting - every scene it’s own film - and I by the end, I felt love for a place I’ve never been and people I’ll never meet. I know nothing of this medium, but I could not imagine a better movie.
