  I definitely prefer the original but I can appreciate how this expanded on the story and did its own thing. The main thing I love about the original is it’s atmosphere and how the film felt like a strange trip through a vibrant nightmare. I didn’t get that same feeling from this movie sadly. I felt there was too much going on with war/politics and lost love narrative. I still enjoy the movie and love the body horror. I did cry towards the end of the film, I can’t pinpoint why but I see that as a plus.
