Anora 2024
Sean Baker makes movies where each frame has colors that seem like they’d be good ice cream flavors. This time, it just so happened to be colors of lipstick or g strings. I feel like he was stepping on Safdie territory here with pacing and characters. Madison was obviously a show-stopper AND the first Ghostface to win an Oscar. Mazel!

Evil Dead Rise 2023
Smaller scale, claustrophobic, good acting, good camera movement. Really leaned into music, which I thought was neat. Tbh I was thinking about 2013’s entry most of the time. Worth a movie ticket price. I’d love to see evil dead as an anthology with different periods/places. Like one in a jungle tribe or something. I mixed the bourbon in a medium Pepsi and it kinda ruined the boozing portion of the movie
