I knew almost nothing of Downey Sr.'s career and life, but through this cathartic documentary I felt a sense of familiarity and gratitude for those who either chose to be different, or couldn't be "normal" if they tried. It's at once a terrific tribute and a poignant study in coping with regret, grief, and Downey Jr's attempt to understand it.
