  if you take this movie for a straightforward narrative where space is used to talk about fascism, it’s boring. you also didn’t watch the movie right. this is a musical! this is oliver twist. in space.

  what makes this movie strong is how it colors in that narrative, transforming more nuanced critiques of capitalism into slapstick. the greek chorus of scientists mindlessly toiling away to torture, the christofascist nazis being paper tigers, and connection between the grotesque obsession on violence/death…

  This movie is the first movie I’ve seen that’s really captured life in the new era. I really appreciated the attention to detail in that sense. I found the small scale of the whole thing pretty interesting. Liked the fairytale ending where someone gets held accountable for something.
