I Saw the TV Glow 2024
Revisiting I Saw The TV Glow after my summer streak of seeing it 4 times when it was still in theaters felt daunting. I know this movie inside and out and I have lived it, so why does it feel so hard to watch again? It’s movies like these that set the conversation for how to write an uncomfortable film. Every second of it feels like drowning but also like I’m learning how to breathe. It’s rebirth in a movie, fucking genius.

I want to say this movie is a benchmark in cinematic history, but it falls short in the small things. The movie inconsistently switches its focus from Vanya to Anora, and has trouble balancing the characters out when they’re on screen together. The ending feels simultaneously rushed and slow, but never falls short on how entertaining it all is. This is a good movie.

Dinner in America 2020
Maybe I’m losing it, but I like movies that feel like they have some form of purpose to them. This does not hit that mark. Had the tension been more palpable I would’ve seen somewhat of an excuse to like this movie. But I really don’t.
