  Scary and suspenseful the whole way through, but yes, insane amounts of misogyny and violence against women, kinda the point of the story but it does not back down, be prepared. I feel it's also made so much scarier by the fact these things could (and do) happen anytime, anywhere.

  I can see where this film shifted the genre and really loved the intensity it managed to catch throughout, the dread of not just dying but suffering a truly terrible death. It deserves its credit as a horror classic and great critique on American culture.
