I'm Still Here 2024
Apart from the dissapearance, everything about their lives, and about Rio, is perfect. Way too perfect. I think this made it much harder for me to engage with the story, and was a lost opportunity to portray the wider social and political environment at that time.
If it weren't for that pesky dictator, everything would be just fine.
Anyways an undeniably amazing performance from Torrez.

This film is unmistakably Murakami.
One way in which this is achieved is through the marathon runtime (opening credits at the 40 minute mark ahaha), which allows for a pace that feels almost like reality. "Almost like reality" I think is a phrase that describes a fair amount of Murakami's work, along with others such as "boredom".
