All the more terrifying than the Matrix, it posits that the simulation is so fully baked in that there’s no escape save for death. It hews closer to that Baudrillard book you see on Neo’s shelf for that reason. Also, it’s refreshing to see practical effects and props. There’s a real weight to any big setpiece here.
