"Woulds't thou like to live deliciously?"
This is horror cinema at its finest. Allegorical, atmospheric, unnerving, and utterly terrifying. The fact that this is from a first time director is mind boggling to me. Each shot is meticulously framed, the production design is perfect in reflecting the time period, the score is haunting, the dialogue is genuine, and the acting is outstanding. The writer/director Robert Eggers clearly did his homework for this because nothing about the 1630s New England setting…

Denis fuckin did it man. Let this man make however many of these he wants. I’ll be there every time. Just incredible blockbuster spectacle with an acute attention to character and the themes that make Herbert’s book so special. I’m going to be thinking about some of those images for quite some time.
