Honestly, this was very good. I thought it was going to look washed out, and it does a little bit, but it’s more pastel than anything. What they do with the lighting is weird, but it’s just weird enough to be interesting.
The acting was great. Ariana Grande is funny, which I feel like we should all know already from her time on Victorious. What’s also really funny is Jeff Goldblum’s face chiseled into the side of a stone wall.
The visuals are rich like a chocolate cake that makes your stomach hurt. Seriously, it made my stomach hurt. Something about the oil painting animation gave me motion sickness. But just like the chocolate cake, it’s worth it.
Initially, the visuals are what made me want to watch this movie, and they are beautiful, but the music was the star of the show. I don’t have words for it. The score is so so good.
The plot is steeped in culture with traditional Polish practices woven into the storyline.

Basel Adra is a born filmmaker with a story to tell and a people to fight for. He and Yuval Abraham make a fantastic team, and I truly hope I get to see more from them in the future.
To be able to create this sort of movie in the middle of so much violence and heartbreak is incredible. This documentary shows the people of Palestine as the human beings that they are. Worried mothers, helpless fathers, innocent children. It’s profoundly important. And I had to watch it with a VPN.
