All these wonderful character actors in search of a plausible story end up stuck with a feature length-sketch with a few set pieces here and there.
What a funny, entertaining love letter to the Clampett-era of Looney Tunes. What a pleasure it is to see Daffy Duck back in his original unhinged characterization. What a treat to see Porky Pig, the first true superstar of Termite Terrace, finally leading a feature-length animated film. And how wild is it to finally see Petunia Pig put to good use as a character?

Allow me to be direct. This is a disappointing film. The various praise I’m reading on Letterboxd seems rather misplaced, as the final product ranges from passable to meh. Other people must be watching a different movie, because the film I watched was not successful in its apparent goals. Atmosphere and authentic settings alone do not a strong movie make.
It’s fine. Nothing special.
