Been thinking a lot about "marketability" and "content" and "social media algorithms" with regards to Hollywood and American movies. Scorcese's thoughts have been trending this week and day by day the increasingly factory-like nature of Hollywood is becoming a more prominent conversation.
The Player reminds me that this conversation is by no means a new one.
A sharp and super funny satire on the formulaic nature of American movies and prioritizing salability, The Player is so gosh darn relevant today- especially this week.
